Aims and objectives of the Gold Coast Victory Athletics Club

The Gold Coast Athletics Club was set up in 1969 to provide
  1. Training opportunities, and
  2. competition opportunities for athletes residing both in, and in close proximity to, the Gold Coast area.

The Club officially changed its name to “Gold Coast Victory Athletics Club Inc” in July 2006.
  1. The Gold Coast Victory Athletics Club provides training opportunities for athletes across the broad spectrum of both cross country and track and field events. The Club has registered (and qualified) coaches in all jumps (high. long, triple, and pole vault), all throws (shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer throw), sprints / hurdles / relays, race walking, multi-events and middle distance (including cross country and steeplechase).
  2. The Gold Coast Victory Athletics Club provides many competition opportunities for athletes. Many competitions are conducted on a regular basis on the Gold Coast. All of our registered athletes are able to participate in these competitions, as well as competitions at neighbouring venues such as the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre, and not-so-near venues such as University of Queensland, University of the Sunshine Coast, Nudgee College and Ipswich.
Long term aims of the Gold Coast Victory Athletics Club include:
  • To be recognised throughout Australia as a “best practice” athletics club
  • To achieve an annual average membership of 400 members, including at least 80 Open age group athletes (20 years of age and older) within 5 years
  • To become a recognised centre for the development of athletes in the ‘highly technical events’ - pole vault, hurdles, hammer throwing within 4 years
  • To have a minimum of 5 new qualified officials every year
  • To have a minimum of 3 new qualified coaches every year
  • To develop a mentoring scheme (for beginning coaches to work with our more experienced coaches to increase their knowledge)
